Renters Insurance
Renter's Insurance ?? Who Needs It??
YOU
DO, IF...
1. You rent an apartment or home
and
2. You own personal belongings
and
3. You have ASSETS to protect
WHY HAVE A RENTER's INSURANCE POLICY?
PROTECTION! PROTECTION! PROTECTION!
Did You Know...
1. Having a renter's insurance policy really does provide
peace of mind by protecting...
- a. Your personal belongings; clothes, furniture,
appliances, toys, cookware, pictures, etc., etc., etc...
- b. Loss of Use - If something happens to the apartment or house
you are renting (a bad
storm causes enough damage that you have to live elsewhere), the
policy will pay the rent on ANOTHER apartment or house until you can move back.
2. Owning a renter's insurance policy protects your assets - current and future.
- a. The liability part of the policy protects you if someone is on
your property and is injured due to some problem that you haven't
taken care of such as your untrained dog biting a visitor.
- b. It also
protects you if you accidentally injure someone
of damage their property while participating in some activity such
as hitting someone with a golf ball while playing golf or causing
smoke damage to other apartments in the building you live in.
- c. The insurance policy pays medical bills, pays for time lost at
work and pays to repair damage you may have caused. The
liability part of the policy protects you if the injured party
decides to sue you! The policy even pays for your lawyer!!
3. What can happen that will be covered by your renter's insurance policy?
- Lots of things...such as fire, windstorm, hail, lightning,
explosion, pipes freezing and
bursting, vandalism, burglary or robbery, and much more. In
fact, there is actually a list of perils that are covered by the
renter's policy. A
deductible will be applied to any property damage loss that occurs.
4. What can happen that WON'T be covered by your insurance policy?
- Your renter's policy has a list of things that are EXCLUDED from
coverage and some of them you can actually buy special coverage for.
a few things
not
covered that can be covered separately: flood,
earthquake, losing a piece of jewelry...
- A few things not covered that you won't be able to insure
separately: wear and tear to the property, damage you cause
intentionally, damage caused when the apartment is left vacant for an
extended period of time...
